VOCAL MUSIC – (ACADEMIC)
Whether you have never studying singing, enjoy singing alone or along with others, this introductory course provides students the opportunity to learn about the process of singing, and the anatomy of human voice and how it works. Singers will learn music literacy, healthy vocal production, how to care for the voice, and building healthy rehearsal habits. VOCAL MUSIC – (HONORS) This level of study requires self-discipline and commitment to practice at home. Students will learn more advanced singing techniques and music literacy as well as how to communicate more effectively through song and sing with expression and attention to detail. Placement in honors voice requires participation at an exemplary level of enthusiasm and commitment. Honors Level Students are expected to take the course both fall and spring semesters. |

NEW for 2023-24! Knightdale GLEE Club - Mixed Voices
This is a new opportunity for any student with NO audition required. Teacher Recommendations are helpful and students will need to complete a GLEE Club application and contract. This EXTRA-curricular activity will rehearse on CLUB days with some after school rehearsals when necessary. This group will present two Cabaret Shows during the course of the school year and will provide opportunities for choreography in a large group setting, small group and solo singing if desired. (Holiday Cabaret / Spring Soiree) This is largely a student led organization with opportunities to develop leadership skills. Enthusiastic participation is required and membership is at the sole discretion of the GLEE Club sponsor.

Knightdale Treble Chorale / SSA (Intermediate / Proficient)
This ensemble is open to all Upper Level Treble voices students who have an interest in SSA/ Treble ensemble singing, building a strong voice and learning how to become an independent musician. Sight singing skills are helpful, but not required. Extra rehearsals are rare, but occasionally are at times held after school. You will be notified in plenty of time before a mandatory after school rehearsal is scheduled to that you may make plans for alternative transportation.
This ensemble is open to all Upper Level Treble voices students who have an interest in SSA/ Treble ensemble singing, building a strong voice and learning how to become an independent musician. Knightdale Singers / Voice Studio (Advanced - Honors)

This ensemble is designed specifically to assist the advanced singer expand their repertoire and learn genre specific singing styles. Students will sing both as a group and solos in a class setting to further develop musicianship skills. Students will learn classical, folk, and pop music and how to use a microphone effectively for performance. Participation in Concert at the end of the semester is expected with opportunities for solos and small ensemble work.
All Voice Types- Spring Semester

This Tenor/ Bass ensemble continues to work on developing the voice, the ear and overall musicianship. Singers continue to demonstrate steady growth and begin to explore more detailed musicianship characteristics. Students should be able to sight read at a level 2 by the time they enroll for this course. Some after school activities are encouraged but not required. Major appearances at MPA's and Spring Concert is required as part of this co-curricular class. This class is "travel eligible" but is not required.
