Parents – WE NEED YOU!
Thank you in advance all for the many times during the coming year that you will support our singers and help them to have a memorable musical experience! Several times throughout the year parents will be contacted with information or with requests to help out in specific areas. Students should see to it that parents receive any information handed out, as there will usually be some response requested. The best way to support the choral program is to attend your students’ performances! This may seem like an obvious statement, but I know that many of you have multiple students in a variety of activities throughout the county, jobs, community involvement, etc. Please make you are letting your student know that you understand that arts education a priority and that you value their artistic expression. A small investment now in your students’ musical success has the potential to make big returns later on. If you are unable to attend an event, please make arrangements for your student to be picked up after the performance or trip in a timely manner. Mr. Mullinax cannot transport students home or leave them unattended at our performance venues. I know choral students at Knightdale are not used to paying lab fees, however, in order for use to have funds to provide the opportunities students deserve, then we must do so until we can get our Choral Boosters up and running. As a point of reference, our chorus budget for instructional funds this year is $500. That is $2.86 per student and equates to the purchase of ONE piece of music. For the year! (We are going to get tired of singing / hearing that song.) This year Lab Fee for chorus is only $20 per student each semester. Parents may pay lab fees through the WCPSS online payment system. Please refer to the Vocal Music Student Handbook for itemization of uses for student fees. If you would be willing to serve as a officer for the booster organization, make a donation to the Boosters OR if you know of a company that would like to become a corporate sponsor of the Knightdale Choral program, please contact jmullinax@wcpss.net and fill out the information below.

/Fundraising Activities are essential to maintain a thriving high school choral department.
The Choral Booster Organization is the fundraising arm of choral program and as you already know, nothing is free and everything cost money. Outside our performances, classes are prohibited from raising money through fundraising, however Booster Organizations can! In order for us to function and provide everything your deserves, it is necessary to raise money -- for new equipment, maintenance to existing equipment, supplies, and most importantly travel expenses. Since “Student work” is the preferred form of fundraising per WCPSS policy this year will will charge a modest admission charge for our concerts $7 per adult / $15 per family. Knightdale students and Faculty are free with ID. All tickets are purchased in advance online. If you are interested in serving as an officer for The Knightdale High School Choral Booster program, please contact Mr. Mullinax Typically Fundraising runs on a calendar year from January through December. The money we raise this year will determine accessibility to special event trips next school year. Fundraising dollars may also be used for lab fees, costume fees or fines. All fundraising ideas and suggestions are welcome and if the need arises we will consider doing extra fundraising to ensure the future growth of the choral program. I encourage students to form small groups or work jobs to raise money toward travel. If you have ideas for fundraising, we ask that you consider joining the Knightdale Choral Booster Organization to provide your expertise and assistance with developing and implementing your ideas. We try our very best to keep lab fees as low as possible, so ALL students can afford to “have a voice” in the choral program at Knightdale High School. The more active our parents are, the easier it is on everyone and the more enriching your students choral experience will be.
